Why I stay a Christian
I am a Christian because when I live apart from God's desires, I'm miserable.
I am a Christian because it gives me security in my choices, hope in my mistakes, purpose, and answers to the ultimate questions: Why did God make me and what happens when I die? You and I are made to worship God now and for eternity.
I'm naturally a worrisome and insecure person. After graduating college I found myself in a terrible job and dealing with emotional heartache through an unhealthy relationship. I sought more seriously to focus on the Lord's promises I learned in church. He clearly spoke to my heart through a Passion conference Proverbs 16:9. I followed the advice of Christian friends to pursue my desire for theatrical missions. I left home but found healing from regret, direction and comfort, excitement and assurance that I was exactly where I needed to be at that moment in life.
The same assurance I have from following Christ in every aspect of my life applies to death as well; God has always kept his promises, and I believe his promise that I will be with him forever because my salvation is through Jesus.
