Wanjiru's Personal Testimony

I'm glad I have eternal life because I have assurance that I will spend eternity with him and I love the fact that He is with me always, just like He promised, and He can use me as a channel to reach others.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour in 1994 at the age of 26yrs. I grew steadily in my Walk with God. In 1995, I got involved in a lustful relationship with a non-believer which caused me to slide back. A year later, I sought forgiveness from God and re-dedicated my life. I was able to end the relationship at the end of 1996. Unfortunately, I discovered I was pregnant. It was a traumatizing period where I faced the prospect of life as a single mother and I knew that only the Grace of God could see me through. I developed an ovarian cyst that was growing at the same rate as the baby. This caused the constant threat of a miscarriage and at some point, it was a choice of saving my baby's life or my own life. I submitted all to God knowing He was in charge and I had peace. When I reached four months, I had an operation to remove the cyst which was the size of a tennis ball! The operation was a success. Five days later, while still in hospital, I developed a serious bacterial infection that started premature labour. Once again, I was back in theatre to clean the infection, all the while praying for God to protect my baby. I truly believe that God was holding my little baby in His arms throughout these operations and threatened miscarriages. After a two week stay in hospital, I went home with the condition I would be on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy. A tough promise to keep. God was gracious to me throughout ensuring I was well taken care of. I was able to move in with my parents who took care of me, my employer granted me paid sick leave for the rest of my pregnancy and maternity leave and in September 1997, through a Caesarian Section, I had a healthy baby boy whose name means 'Miracle'. Today, he is a healthy, handsome young man of 17yrs. What Satan meant for harm and disgrace, God turned into something beautiful. Through this experience, I learnt that the promises of God are true and do not change. Though we sin and turn from God, He never forsakes is. If we turn back and confess our sins, He is merciful and forgives us our sins. I learnt that sin does have consequences, even though we are forgiven, but His Grace will carry you through. We do not need to walk in fear, but in His peace. We know we have the assurance of salvation. All Glory and Honour to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The same God who stood by me in that situation many years ago, is the same God who still walks with me today. He does not change and has seen me through many more situations since then. I have the assurance that I will spend eternity with Him.
