Unmatched Grace
I have experienced a deeper, lasting love and unmatched grace than I ever knew existed.
I am thankful for the gift of eternal life; a gift in that there is nothing more I can do to earn His favor, but trust and accept the unending love He pours out for me.
I grew up in a semi-believing family, if that exists. Going to church was good for the kids, but not something my parents modeled. Hurts from my parents past kept them from pursuing a relationship with God, but thankfully they were open to having their daughter pursue Him. I remember being a little girl, sitting in Sunday school, asking Jesus into my heart, but it wasn't until years later that I would fully understand and grasp the weight of that decision. I knew before I was a teenager that I was called into ministry, called to serve and grow His kingdom, but for a long time serving Him came from a desire to please God and others. There were decisions that led me to wander, choices that led to pain and suffering, hurts from my past that needed to be healed. What I misunderstood most was His grace. As years passed I came to know deeper levels of His grace; getting married at twenty and doing life with another sinner revealed a deep need of His grace even more. But since becoming a mom through adopting two children with broken hearts and hurting pasts, I have experienced a deeper, lasting love and unmatched grace than I ever knew existed.
It is because we serve a great and good God that I am confident I have received His free gift of eternal life. He sent Jesus. In His goodness He pours out unending love and immeasurable grace. One of my favorite quotes is "only in seeing the depth of our sin can we see the unmatched grace and glory of the cross".
