Turn Right and go straight!

Before I received Jesus as Lord and Savior, I left my wife and kids to live the single lifestyle again. I was very self centered and didn't appreciate the many blessings I had. I was consumed with lustful thoughts and desires to the point of divorcing my wife so that I could pursue those desires. I had friends that didn't give me the best encouragement and even gave me bad advice because they had no compassion for my circumstance. I was a young man lost in a great big world full of temptation and sin and decadence and I allowed myself to be influenced by the wrong things.

I was running with a crowd of young military men at a point in my life when I was very easily coaxed into doing things that I knew I shouldn't be doing. I did not stay focused on what should have been my primary focus, my family.

The Holy Spirit moved me one day to go visit a church that I had visited previously. I got up, cleaned up and got dressed and headed out to that church forgetting that it was the Sunday in the fall when we were supposed to set the clocks back an hour and I arrived at the church in time for Sunday School. Not wanting to be embarrassed, I sat down in the class and was given a book where the lesson that morning was that of the prodigal son and I heard the Spirit telling me that I was that son. I had made a mess of my life. I had hurt my wife. I was not being the proper father to my children. After the pastor preached, the choir sang "Through It All" "I've learned to trust in Jesus, I've learned to trust in God" I accepted Jesus that morning and presented myself as a candidate for baptism.

I went and got my wife and my sons and brought them to church with me where they also accepted Christ and were baptized. I asked for and received their forgiveness. My wife and I were remarried and now co-pastor a church in Douglasville, GA. In February, 2016 we will celebrate 35 years of marriage.

These days we counsel couples prior to them getting married.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Jesus paid the price for my sins and that my belief in His life, death, and resurrection has secured my future with him in heaven.
