Lies & Lust to Truth & Love.
Prior to receiving eternal life, I was consumed by lust and addictions.
When I first started college my desire for women was so great and I was so addicted to video games that a few things happened. First, I did not contact my family or friends for months. Second, I began to lose sleep, money and it began to negatively affect my grades. Third, I felt that others were judging me so I felt ashamed.
I was raised in the church, so I had been looking for one when I heard a girl say "Iasis" one day on the plaza. Then I attended with some girls from my hall one night. A year or so later I was raising my hand in service to publicly announce that I wanted eternal life. In front of this non-denominational congregation was the "third" time I made such a public profession. The first was at a Pentecostal church when I was 10, on Easter, 05/31/2002. The second was at a C.O.G.I.C church when I was closer to 16. I have grown closer to Jesus every day since.
Jesus was right, I was designed for Christ and I have finally found satisfaction that the lies of the world could not fulfill. To quote C.S. Lewis "If I find in myself a desire that nothing in this world can fill, that must mean I was created for a different world"
I had a woman look me in the face and say she wanted to have sex. I was attracted to her and I refused. I have had people ask me to play video games with them and I have refused, though there is nothing wrong with them in moderation, in the past I would have been unable to refuse.
John 5:13 says "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life" (NASB). On November 20th, 2009 around 100 spiritual scholars and leaders released the Manhatten Declaration. This very intense study done across Christian denominational lines to affirm the inerrancy and infallibility of God's word? I stand on the evidence that God's word is inspired by Jesus. It says that I have eternal life, therefore I trust the Bible.
