Trusting Christ for Myself
Trials draw me to Christ and my need for personal faith.
I'm thankful I have salvation because I know I am forgiven by God, even when I struggle to give myself grace. I'm also thankful for His love & encouragement through hard times in life.
I'm from a Christian family who taught me about Jesus from the beginning. When I was in Junior High, my dad, though a believer, struggled with alcoholism. I was also shy and didn't have many friends. During that time of trial, it helped me to seek God all the more, though I don't remember a time I really felt I didn't know God. I knew I needed His strength and wisdom each day. I knew it had to be my personal faith, not relying on my family's belief to save me. His word, as well as biographies of Christians in closed countries, comforted me and challenged me to live daily for Christ. He was MY Lord and savior.
Because of what Christ did for me in dying on the cross, rising to pay for my punishment & purchasing my salvation, I have confidence that one day I will be with Him in heaven as well as other loved ones who followed Christ and who have gone before me: my father, my closest friend, and my baby I miscarried. Christ Jesus has helped me throughout all these years and will welcome me in heaven because I believe in His work and trust Him with my life & salvation.
