The World will Consume You
Alchohol, lust, and pride consumed me for my entire adult life, until Jesus saved me at 46. Jesus is the truth and the only way to peace.
You know, I really thought I was a good person before Jesus found me. The truth is, I was only looking out for myself. I was full of shame and pride and lies.
Until Jesus saved me at 46, I was hopeless. I spent my entire life addicted to alcohol, drugs, and womanizing, chasing any worldly thing that would give me an escape from the shame that I was experiencing. I knew that it was a dead end, that nothing of this world would fix me. I was lost and hurting people around me with my actions, including my son, who took a back seat to my selfish desires.
Slowly I realized that the way I was living was a lie. That there was truth in Jesus, and that he is who he says he is. I am hopelessly a sinner and cannot save myself.
Jesus loved me anyway. He took this broken person and paid the price for a lifetime of sins.
It's not easy, but I'm learning to trust in Him. I'm seven years sober now, married, and committed to a new fellowship with other believers. Every day I try and take up the cross, put others ahead of myself, including my new wife, and commit to a deeper love relationship with our lord and savior. Life is so different now that I know he is there looking out for me, and that all I need to do is surrender to him.
I know that Jesus is who he says he is, and that I can trust in his word. My faith is a journey and it continues to grow daily, and I know that as long as I continue to put my faith in Him, I will have eternal life with him in heaven.
