The Transformation-His Banner Over Me Is Love
Before knowing the love of Christ my life was a struggle; but, on the other side of receiving the gift of salvation I have found peace and reassurance in the promises of God.
My life was exhausting, full of worry, stress, grief, driven by personal ambition and hyper independence, it was lonely and no matter what I achieved I was still left feeling discontent like something was always lacking. My marriage had failed and I was sunk with financial burden and debt.
It was 2008 when I attended a Women of Faith Conference and I accepted and confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and I dedicated my life to Him. Up to this moment in time I was a working single mother at the back end of a divorce and graduating from the University of Colorado Denver with a Dual Bachelor of Arts Degree. By most people's standard I was more than successful, I was an overcomer and an anomaly given my background as an impoverished, fatherless, highschool drop-out and teen mom who spent her young life striving to pull her mother out of addiction. To most I had done more than meet my goals, I had exceeded every standard and often would do it everything twice (hence the Dual Degree) just to be sure no one doubted my ability. Outwardly I was a token child for welfare to work, a high achieving single mother defying all odds and making a way for myself in the world. And I wore this identity with pride. I waived every banner, spoke at every event, lobbied my causes and promoted the path I had forged. Yet, inwardly, I was very much afraid, striving, reaching and burdened. I felt alone a lot of the time and never gave myself a moment to cope-I just forced forward, stayed busy and lived in stress and burnout.
But that day on September 21st 2008 sitting in the mezzanine of the Pepsi center, a shift happened, an invitation was given and I answered. I accepted and confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The Lord's Plumb Line was released over my life and my heart was aligned with Christ and I was transformed.
This was a marked, supernatural turn of life event where I immediately felt changed a great exchange occurred, my burdens immediately felt lighter, my worry faded-daily, I sensed an embrace and a sudden anchoring and reassurance in life.
My deep seeded need to strive and succeed, to conquer every battle and even my unhealthy desire for hyper independence began to wane. I was able to let go of recent woundedness through the divorce proceedings and even through prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit was able to walk through an amicable compromise over custody and child support battle that had been going on. I stepped into a new life, with my heart and mind set on Jesus. My eyes locked with the one I loved and He who Loved me and I was just completely wooed into this revelatory love affair with God. I spent month soaking up the Song of Solomon, my prayer life activated and all the details of my life just started to align with this new path. My children and I were blessed to find a Spirit filled church, Power Invasion Ministries, just minutes from our home where we were welcomed into a new church family and we began to grow in Christ together. Even our home life experienced transformation and as a family we were met with God's supernatural provision repeatedly!
I don't feel, believe, or think that Jesus is real and has given eternal life and offers a life on earth more abundantly...I know that I know. I m thoroughly convinced of the promises of the Lord that include abundant life and life eternally.
