The Moment I Truly Felt God's Presence
This is my testimony about how I went from being lost and hopeless to having strong faith in God after having an encounter with Him and the Holy Spirit.
Now that I have eternal life, and I trust and love Jesus Christ, I have no worries of having to perish in hell, knowing that He has secured my place and everlasting life in heaven. John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(Writing this during 23/9/2024) During the age of 13, it was the first time I joined a Christian Camp, I wasn't expecting much and I thought that it will be like the usual sermons in Church. But then, as the days went by, I realize I was wrong. These few days changed my perspective of Christianity, knowing that it is not a religion, it is actually a relationship. I was ministered by the Holy Spirit, I didn't feel much but the feeling definitely was there. But this mindset wouldn't last in me for a long time. After a few weeks, I went back to sinning, I committed lust, lack of praying, lack of reading God's word. When I look back during that time, I can see how hypocritic I was towards Christianity. Fast forward one year, I joined the same Christian Camp at the age of 14. This time, I had feeling that I would experience breakthrough. So it started off as we worship and gave our highest worship to the Lord. I'm gonna be brutally honest, I barely felt any spiritual feeling during this camp. These few days, was just me goofing around with my friends, more like 80% friends, 20% about God. I couldn't cry, I couldn't focus on Jesus, I couldn't focus during sermons, at this point worshipping Jesus is the only thing I know as a Christian. Again, I had this mindset to change as a Christian, and once again failed. I asked God, I prayed to God, why didn't I feel Your presence? Why can't I stop sinning? Why am I hypocritic? Why am I unable to feel You? I prayed and I prayed, nothing happened except me kneeling down awkwardly in my room. Wow, God was probably mad at me. I was hopeless. I was lost. Until one day my youth cell group announced that they will be having this seminar called "Way to Freedom" Initially I wasn't planning on going, but I asked my friend: "Yo bro, do you wanna participate in this seminar?" He said yes, and I joined too. 1 month ago, 23/8/2024, I joined the Seminar. I clearly remember the lessons that we learnt like generational curses, the true way to freedom, how to forgive etc. And of course, we did worship too. But what really mattered to me, was the time of during the Ministry of the Holy Spirit into us. The elders, they prayed for me, prayed and prayed. I wasn't feeling much, I just remember my legs starting to feel weak, and I just knelt forward and prayed. The night ended after the ministry. During the 2nd day, we had our worship time as well, and after that, the sermon. After the sermon, my long-awaited moment, the Ministry of the Holy Spirit. For the 2nd time, I was prayed for. But this time, I really, really focused on the prayer and God. I kept praying, waiting for God's sign, I was feeling much, my mind started to wander, but I kept persisting and kept praying, until eventually. I felt Him. My arms started to raise on their own, like some sort of spiritual force pushing it upwards that I couldn't resist, I kept praying and praying. My arms and hands started to tremble uncontrollably on their own, happiness overflowed me as I shed tears of joy. And for another time, my legs started to feel weak, I fell on my knees again. And that, was the moment I truly encountered and felt God's presence. After getting up I was genuinely shocked of what the Holy Spirit can do to you. During the next Ministry session, I was asked to pray for my friend (refer above), who is willing to receive the gift of tongues. The elders prayed in tongues, I prayed in tongues, the whole room was just filled with different tongues. People were falling, kneeling, crying. I truly felt the presence of our Lord with us that day. It was beautiful. And this was the day, where I strengthened my faith in God, I will devote my life to follow his path, to heaven and live everlasting life.
That encounter with God, changed my life. I now live in a life with God, having strong faith in Him, knowing that I will one day return to His kingdom, spending forever and ever with Him. I am a young Christian, currently 14 years old and from Malaysia. I hope whoever reads this has a great day! God bless!
