The Fear of Death

My grandmother died when I was five. I had never experienced the death of someone close to me and it was heart-breaking when I finally understood she was gone. I had a deep sense of loss and regret.

It was during this time that I became aware that I would die someday too. The loss of my grandmother was painful but the realization that I was finite was terrifying. I had so many questions about what happens when I die. But everyone I spoke with seemed more interested in comforting me than sharing any rational or reasonable explanations.

Then, when I was fourteen, a friend began to share about who God was and how I could have a relationship with Him. It was the first time I had heard truly satisfying answers to dealing with the problem of death and dying. I put my trust in Jesus and began a relationship with Him.

Now I am able to live my life free from the fear of death.

I have seen God change the lives of my family, friends and many others.

Today I know that I have eternal life with God because I take Jesus at His word. John 3:36 "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life"
