The Effects of Salvation
Having been saved as a child, my salvation testimony is not that big a deal. And there wasn't much change in my life at the time because I had already been brought up on Biblical principles. It was later in my life that I began to recognize God moving in unexpected ways to work around my bad decisions, my fears, my anger, my alcoholism. I wish I had payed better attention when I was younger.
One of the benefits of knowing I have eternal life with God after death is that I don't fear death as much. I don't fear what is going on in the world. I don't fear illness or injury. I just don't fear as much when I keep my focus on Jesus.
I have chronic illness which limits what I can do physically and sometimes cognitively. Early in my life, when I was focusing on what I wanted instead of what God wanted for me, I was constantly anxious about falling ill and not being able to take care of my family. It was a big concern for me. Decades later when I was diagnosed with several chronic problems and became disabled, I wasn't afraid, because I knew that God would meet all my needs and had a good outcome in mind for all of this.
There is no question that I will spend eternity with God. By accepting the gift of salvation, God has assured through the Bible and prayer time that the end of this physical life for me is going to be the beginning of a life - an eternal life - free from sorrow, anger, and hurt.
