The Comforter Carries Me
Jesus has comforted me and given me hope so that I may share my joy with others.
“Jesus has been my comfort and joy and given me hope in spite of the circumstances of life.”
There have been multiple times throughout my life, when I have experienced comfort and joy in the midst of tragedy. When I was sixteen years old, I was the only survivor of a car accident that claimed the life of a very close friend. At twenty-two, I faced cancer, surgery, and years of recovery and medical appointments. At twenty-six, our baby went Home to be with the Lord in Heaven. Because Jesus carried me on each of these particular days and all the others that followed, I experienced comfort and joy. It was not because I did anything to deserve it - because I couldn’t do anything. I had not even been faithful to Him as I chased after many things this world had to offer; yet, His mercy and grace was evident and had followed me. He was faithful, even when I wasn’t. He loved me, even when I didn’t know how to love. He forgave me and never left me.
The same peace and comfort that filled my life on those days is the same peace and comfort that I treasure and know will be with me until the Lord calls me Home to Heaven. Psalm 116:12 says, “What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me?” 2 Corinthians 1 tells us to comfort others with the comfort He is has given us. I know Who has comforted me, and I have to tell others about Him.
