Six Months Isn't Premature!
God's timing is not man's timing. God's plan is perfect and will give us a life of hope. When situations appear hopeless, they can make us feel powerless and alone, but God reassures us and gives us strength to endure. He speaks to us in the quiet, still voice and calls us to Him to protect us from life's storms.
Before I received eternal life, I felt alone. It was as if I had no one to trust or confide in.
I was born to a 16 year old, unwed mother. I was premature, at only 6 months and weighed less than a pound. My mother was told that I would not live and not to bother naming me. I was raised in an abusive home. My mother was battered and I was physically abused. I felt powerless over the situation and I was too embarrassed to confide in anyone. I hid the abuse which allowed it to continue. I carried the burden of this betrayal inside me for many years trying to appear normal. I thought that had I not been recognized by this person, the abuse would not have occurred. I went through my middle and high school years striving to excel, but not wanting the recognition that accompanied it. I avoided awards ceremonies. I sometimes thought that it would be easier if I just disappeared. I literally felt that I had no voice.
Then one day, I felt Jesus calling me closer to Him to accept the gift of eternal life. Recall that I did not like to draw attention to myself, so I struggled initially. But I knew that I had to accept the gift. I felt a comforting and an assurance that I had not known. I felt a sense of peace within my spirit that allowed me to receive eternal life. My life was forever changed.
Now that I have eternal life, I am confident because I know that God is always with me. I have an assurance that God will never leave me nor forsake me and I know that I will be in Heaven with Jesus one day. Even when the enemy tries to do harm to me and though he may appear to succeed in the natural, I have a confidence that I can trust God to fight my battles and give me the victory in His timing. The enemy's end is not God's end!
The odds were stacked against me from birth, but when I look at my life today and I am thankful to God for the mercy he has shown on me. God used every situation to prepare me for every challenge I would have to face in life. He showed me through my belief and trust in Him, I had the strength to overcome any situation. I know that without a doubt I can trust God completely.
Today, my hope resides in Jesus for my eternity. I know without a doubt that He spoke to me and called me into His marvelous light. Because I accepted His calling, I have eternal life and I will be in heaven with Him when I die.
