Selfish Ambition to Christian Musician
I once was a musician focused only on self gain, with dreams of being one of the greats. God made me into a musician with the intent of doing greater things.
I look forward to eternal life because I know currently of the Joy of Salvation and what it is like to live and serve Christ while I am on Earth and he is in heaven with the Father. How much greater will my Joy be when I am in the presence of my redeemer and creator? I can only imagine what it will be like to be in God's direct presence and although I'm thoroughly convinced it will be astounding, I take solace in knowing that even my greatest imagination will fall short of what it is like to truly experience God.
Dreams that I thought were cast aside when I began to live for Christ came to mind frequently. How would I ever become a professional musician now that I had submitted to God's will? Little did I know that God had not cast aside my selfish ambitions, but rather reworked them so that they would bring Him glory rather than me. I am currently the lead ukulele and electric guitar player for the Christian worship band titled "In His Steps" and our freshman album (of the same name) funded a mission trip to Brazil in which at least six Brazilian orphans came to know Christ. His ways are so much higher than our ways.
I know for myself that it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me. The man who once lived for selfish gain and the approval of others has passed away, but Christ has Risen up a new man who lives not for himself, but for the glory of the one true king; Jesus Christ. This man shall too pass, but not from life to death. No, I will pass from this temporary home on this broken Earth to my permanent dwelling place with Father. The truth of the matter is, I would be lost and dead in my sin without Christ. Romans 3:23 say "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" and Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ". In addition to this, God proves to us that he loves us in Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love towards us, in that while were still sinners Christ died for us." If you want to experience the profound experience that is living for the one true God you can make that commitment too! Romans 10:9-10 says "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Your testimony matters too
