Searching for Purpose
Insecurity to eternal security.
Before I met Jesus, I searched for purpose in everything temporary.
...drinking & smoking pot, getting guys attention and affection, adventure, material things, eating disorders, etc. Even though I would get temporary satisfaction, I still always felt like something was missing.
Even though I would get temporary satisfaction, I still always felt like something was missing. One night (when I was actually drunk), a friend shared his testimony with me about how he experienced God move through his life, as well as a miracle he had experienced. He had witnessed a baby, that was dead for about an hour and a half, come back to life after praying over it for 45 minutes! Hearing this from a trusted friend really made me think about what I thought about God, and what that would mean for my life. The next morning, my roommate's Bible was on the table, and God used it to speak to me in an extremely personal way. I knew in that moment that I was choosing between life and death, and I gave my life to Christ! My roommate (which was actually my cousin), said that it was like a light switch was flipped...I was a completely different person.
Now that I know Christ, I know my life has purpose and meaning.
Although I'm not perfect, and I still find myself loosing sight of Christ and looking for fulfillment in temporary things at times, He is faithful and always gently reminds me that true and lasting fulfillment is only found in Him. Whenever I look to Him, I am satisfied.
In John 10:10, Jesus says that He came to give us life and life to the full. In John 6:47, He says, "Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life." He died for my life NOW, but also for eternity! I find amazing comfort and joy in that.
Your testimony matters too
