Saved from fear of death and driunkenness
From fear of death and drunkenness, I am now confident in the assurance of eternal life.
Before I received the gift of eternal life, I use to drink alcohol and I had the fear of death.
I remember one night I was coming back from a pub very drunk. It was past midnight and I had taken a short cut to my home, which passed behind the grave yard. As I was walking in the dark I saw somebody dressed in white clothing coming my way. I thought it was a ghost and I was very frightened that I was going to die. When the person got closer to me I realised that he was just a human being and he passed by. I became sober and purposed to stop drinking that very night. But the following day I found myself drinking again.
After some years somebody invited me to an open air crusade. There I heard the Gospel for the first time, and received the gift of eternal life.
Now that I have eternal life, I not afraid of death and I am no longer drinking alcohol.
One day I was having dinner with one of my cousins at his house. He offered me some whisky but I was not interested and declined it. I am no longer finding pleasure in alcohol. One evening I was driving back from South Africa to Botswana. It was just few minutes before the border post closes. I was over speeding then I lost control of the van. It went off road and people who were at the back of the van started screaming. A crush was inevitable. Miraculously the van stabilised and I regained control of it. I remember very well that I was not afraid to die. I had peace in my heart despite the danger ahead.
What makes me happy the most is the fact that I have eternal life, and I know for sure that if I die today I am going to be with God in heaven.
