Saved By a Loving Merciful Father
The bible says it is appointed unto men to die once, and then face Gods judgment. Hebrews 9:27. I have the peace and joy in knowing that I am saved from His coming judgment.
I lived in sin and made my version of God into a false idol. Like most unbelievers I thought God would weigh my good and bad deeds, then seeing that my heart was good, would allow me entry into paradise. Being young and arrogant I decided that there was always time to get things right with God. Never did it enter my mind that I may die one day. In the midst of my rebellion God choose to have mercy, which change the course of where I would spend my eternal life.
Both of my lungs collapsed during an Asthma attack and I had to be placed on a respirator. It was then that I died for 3 1/2 minutes at the age of twenty-one. The room became filled with a warm light and I saw my physical body lying on a table, of which I was attempting to leave behind. When a large arm appeared out of the corner of the room and held out an even larger hand, afterwards a voice spoke "no not yet". According to the World Health Organization, 56 million people die each year, which is an average of about 153,424 people each day. Out of all the people that died that day, God saved me from both a physical and spiritual death.
My crude attempts at retelling what happened over twenty years ago does not give it justice. Nevertheless, it’s because of God's grace and mercy that I have the chance to retell this story. I am in awe, simply in awe, that God save one person out of millions that would die that year. He saved me. He saved me? With all certainty, if I had died my soul would have been cast into hell. Today, I am assured of eternal life!
