Sarah's Simple Story
My testimony is not the most detailed, or hardship-stricken, or earth-shattering, but it is my story about fully discovering Jesus. He is more than just a story taught in Sunday school to young children. The Holy Spirit worked in my life to strengthen my luke-warm faith and made it into the most precious treasure within my soul.
I asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me from my sins at a very young age. I grew up in a family that openly loved God and went to church regularly. However, as I have gotten older, my relationship with Christ has grown significantly. Now I realize that my faith is not just another life lesson taught to me by my parents, but is what gives me purpose in life.
Even though I knew God when I was younger, I did not have a deep, personal relationship with Him until a few years ago. I remember one of my best friends asking me a question about Jesus and the Bible that I could not answer alone, so my mom walked me through the Gospel message and that is when I truly understood. I had been proud, selfish, arrogant, and the list goes on. I realized that I was a sinner just the same as literally anyone else, and Jesus died for the thieves and the murderers just as much as He did for me. Now, I try every day to be merciful and give people grace, the same grace that I do not deserve, and still, that decision is not up to me. This gives the greatest peace in my heart, it is beyond words.
I now know that there is nothing I can do to separate myself from God's love. No matter what my life has ahead, I rest knowing that Jesus is in my heart and has my soul for eternity.
