Running from God
On the run, trying to hide from the only one who could ever truly love me. Had to find out for myself that its' impossible to run away from God.
Being raised in a pastors home, I was privileged to hear about Jesus. As a child I fell in love with reading is word. However, knowing the Truth and living the truth are two different things. After a few years of rebellion, it became clear to me that running from God was futile. He relentlessly pursued me and His words haunted me so much, that even at parties I would find myself listening to hurting people, yet keeping the answer to myself. So, in a sense, I wasn't just running from the fear of being unable to live the truth, but the calling for ministry as well.
A major turning point came for me one night at a party. Someone saw me drinking and made fun of me saying that I shouldn't be drinking because my dad was a preacher. It really ticked me off and I told them that since their dad was a plumber than they should go fix the toilet. Then I went for a walk outside and found myself sitting on a pile of wood. As I sat there with a beer in my hand, I looked up to stars and prayed, "God, I wish I had the guts to serve you, but not tonight, not tonight.
After wasting too many years on the run, I finally stopped running and embraced the awesome plan He has for my life.
Your testimony matters too
