Recognition of the gift and the Giver
I went from thinking I was a good person to salvation through the only good Person that ever lived, and still lives!
I thought I was a good guy. Didn't cause much trouble or hurt anyone. I really didn't think I needed any change in my life.
A couple of years after I got married my wife and step daughter started going to church regularly. I was asked repeatedly to go as well but I didn't really want to. I went because I didn't want to disappoint my family, no other reason. After watching the changes that my wife and daughter experienced and seeing the love that flowed from some of the people in the church I became intrigued enough to read the Bible. I didn't even finish the Gospel of John before I made a decision that changed my life completely for the better!
Once I understood the value of the gift of eternal life, and the sacrifice that was made for me to have it, I could no longer resist the Lord's call on my life.
I began to understand my need for forgiveness, and that I was so far from the good person I thought I was. I became so grateful for the provision of forgiveness that God already made for me ahead of time!
Now I am learning how to love unconditionally! I never knew what that meant until Jesus demonstrated it on the cross for me, and He did so while I was in the midst of my sinfulness!
God has confirmed in my heart through His Word and His Spirit that my salvation is secure. So thankful for that!
