Raquel's Personal Testimony

I grew up not knowing God at all; I hardly ever heard His name. I felt out of place in my childhood and started drinking at an early age. In my adulthood, I became pregnant and was introduced to Christianity but I was in constant battle with my alcoholism. Things like getting arrested and having the custody of my daughter given to her father were happening yet alcohol was still dominating my life. Eventually, I met and married my husband and gave birth to 2 additional children but any progress in my sobriety was lost. I remember thinking that I will never be able to be sober. I felt hopeless.

I was diagnosed with alcoholic hepatitis and this was what led me to surrender to God. The night I got diagnosed I laid in bed and I begged Him to help me; He was my only chance at life.

It wasn't long after that that I was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.

Through Christ, I finally know what it feels like to live without any desire to drink alcohol.

God has shown me how to love my family. He has placed me in a home church that has taken me in and that care for me. God loved me when I didn't love Him, myself, or anyone else. He did not give up on me. He has healed my alcoholism and my liver.

Because of God, I am able to live my life empowered, with hope for everyone, and with confidence in His gift of eternal life.
