Pride and God's Gift
Understanding my pride and self-centeredness through God's gift of eternal life has opened my life to a new direction.
Before I came to receive God's free gift of eternal life I was very self-centered.
Relationship never lasted long and I always convinced myself I had not acquired enough to commit anything to anybody. I was a "self-made man". But I would ask myself, "Where was I going?"
Time moved on and in my late thirties I was married, I had a house, I had a son, I had a job, I had cars. I had overwhelming relational turmoil and ask my brother about God. I received God's gift of eternal life and grew in understanding of how my pride blocked me from His love for me. Change is continuing in me because of God's gift.
Now that I have received eternal life, a newness in my daily life has given me understanding in relating with others and progressively changing from "self-centered" to "other-centered".
Our friends lost their home due to changes in their lives and we took them in. In God's time, He has sent them on missions and also provided a house for them. God put in our hearts the need of others and to extend love and hospitality.
Accepting God's free gift of eternal life and understanding what that means to me is assurance of my future.
