PERSONAL STORY OF JEREMIAH OMWOYO

Before I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior I live a life of fear and loneliness.

MY STORY I was born in a Christian Family and grew up attending Sunday school. In culture of the Abagusii of Kenya in the 1980s it was prestigious to circumcise boys and as such I was circumcised at the age 7 and according to our traditions once a boy is circumcised, he should not stay in the same house with his parents. Because of this a small one room grass thatched house was built for me and after supper and would go to sleep the with younger brother. In that little house I used to suffer from fear of darkness and I felt lonely.

Then my aunt realized that was fearful and told that God is with you even if there is darkness you should not fear. She told me that if I receive Jesus into my heart I will no longer fear anything. This was attractive to me and I started attending the church’s main service because in Sunday school were told bible stories without being given opportunity to receive Jesus into hour hearts. In one of the services the preacher taught about heaven and hell and people sung a song in our language about how sinners will burn in hell and how Satan will chew their bones when they die and how the righteous will go the heaven and enjoy honey and milk. Fearing to go to hell and desiring the good life in heaven I went forward when the preacher asked for sinners to come forward and repent. I and some adult congregants repeated a sinner’s prayer and I joined a baptism class for a few weeks and then I was baptized.

From that time my fear of darkness disappeared and I could now sleep without fear. Ever since that time I have enjoyed a fear free live and I no longer feel lonely.

After overcoming fear and loneliness I could now live in my little grass thatched house and read and do my primary school home work until deep in the night and I started becoming number one in class and God helped pass my primary school with excellent mark, I joined a good high school and later joined university and graduated and got a good job. I have since changed jobs and I praise God for saving me from sinand fear.

I thank God that I now have assurance of salvation and the presence of God in my life. After my high school I was filled with the Holy Spirit and my life has never been the same. I have courage which has enabled to overcome though life situation by placing my faith in the grace of God alone through the name of Jesus
