People Pleaser to God Pleaser
I used to be a people pleaser. Now I am a God pleaser. I now am unapologetically in love and living my life for Jesus!
Before I started walking with Jesus, I was a "people pleaser". My identity was rooted in what other people thought of me and what I could accomplish. It was exhausting and it caused a lot of anxiety. I also feared rejection. I was living a life that everyone else was deciding for me.
After graduating junior college, for three years, I worked towards attaining a nursing degree because it was what my parents wanted for me. I had absolutely no desire to do it, but I did it in hopes of pleasing them. I completed all my pre requisites and was rejected three times. I felt like a complete failure. And on top of that, I didn't know what else to do. I didn't know what my dreams, goals and future should look like, because I didn't give myself the opportunity to do so.
Then I learned that God loved me unconditionally. I learned I didn't have to do anything to earn His love. I learned that He loved me and was pleased with me when I humbled myself, turned away from my sin, and asked him to be my Lord and Savior. He loved me and I didn't have to earn it. It was so freeing. I learned what grace was. God gave it. And I learned to give myself grace too.
After I read the whole bible, I learned truth. I am an adopted daughter into the Kingdom of Heaven. I learned the Gospel and that God has a purpose and a plan for me. I learned that my purpose is to live out my life victoriously and share that victory with others. I am a mighty woman of God. I am loved by the most high God. Nothing I could do, could make Him love me more, and no mistake I make, could make Him love me less. I learned that I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ. I live in freedom from living my life worry about if anyone else will approve. The bible says "Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty".
I now make decisions based on what God wants. Recently I was given an opportunity to move up in my company that would demand more of my time away from my family and longer hours. Many people wouldn't think twice when an opportunity to be promoted came their way, but with prayer and God's guidance, He gave me the wisdom to say no. It wasn't right for my life and my focus is no longer on being promoted in the world. I want to be promoted in the Kingdom. I didn't need to ask all my friends what they thought, this was a God and me decision.
I am no longer a man pleaser. I am a God pleaser. When I finish running this awesome race called life, I will stand before my God and see His beautiful face and hear "Well done, good and faithful servant." . Jesus is my treasure, yall. And I look forward to the day I get to hug his neck and tell Him He was so worth it. He is my everything. He is so faithful.
