Peace with God, and Love for others, and Joy in the Journey of Life
God made me a Recruiter for Him and a Fisher of Men.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles. Growing up I was exposed to religion, faith and Christianity through my immediate and extended family, however I never came to a saving faith in Christ. My parents divorced when I was six years old and both of them remarried when I was around 10 years old. They both led self-consumed lives and didn’t take me to church regularly, nor share the truths of God with me. Thankfully I did have faithful grandparents and aunts and uncles who prayed for me and took me to church periodically. The seeds had been planted
When I was 18 years old, a series of events occurred that caused me to questions my life, my purpose, and my faith. A dear friend from high school was killed by a drunk driver, one my friend’s fathers committed suicide, my own father had a son with his new wife who was born with cystic fibrosis, and the pinnacle event was when I got a DUI during my first semester of college. That night in jail, led me to encounter God in a personal way. I asked God "if you made these eyes I want to see you and if you made my ears I want to hear you." Hearing a still voice, "You could have killed someone like your friend in high school that died from a drunk driver!" It cut me to the core of my being and I was broken and cried like I never cried before. I was drunk and driving recklessly and ran a red light. The pain I felt and the guilt and shame were overwhelming that night but I sensed God's voice in the cell with me. I knew that I needed to change and the fear of death and hell was so real to me at the moment. I prayed and called out to God and asked Him to reveal himself to me and He did.
After my DUI my mother and stepfather bought me a Bible and that was the first time I had ever really read God’s Word. I immediately started attending church regularly, serving in various ministries like homeless ministries and children’s ministry and felt the calling that God wanted me to minister and serve His people in radical ways. A few years after becoming a Christian, I sold all of my possessions and left America to share the gospel with others around the world. That year of living abroad deepened my faith and solidified my calling as a Christian evangelist. When I returned from living abroad, I knew that I couldn’t finish my college education at the state school that I had attended for 3 years so I finished my degree at Biola. Shortly thereafter I stumbled upon a career in executive recruiting. After a year of evangelism abroad, recruiting was a perfect transition in that I have a captive audience to advocate, encourage, and witness even to the people He brings my way through my business. A couple of years into recruiting I met my wife and we started a family. We have been happily married for over two decades and live in San Clemente now with our two adult daughters.
Now that I have eternal life, I have peace with God and joy in the journey of life. The Lord also gave me a calling to evangelize daily and have a purpose for living and a passion for people and what they do. He made me an executive recruiter for God and a fisher of man. I daily witness and share the Gospel with people whenever I have an opportunity as I recruit and place professionals within their careers and before the throne of God.
I believe God uses questions and our circumstances in life to bring us to Him for his glory and our good. The answers will come at the right time if we truly seek him and ask with all that is in us. (Matthew 7:7) It became clear to me after he opened my eyes and ears to the truth to the reality of salvation found only in Jesus Christ as Lord. He gave me the understanding to know Him by His Grace and to love His ways and a love for people.
Now that I obtained grace and mercy from God through Jesus Christ, I have confidence in Christ and I know that I have eternal life and have peace with God forever and an inexpressible joy in life.
