Out of religion and into a relationship.
Out of religion and into a relationship.
I grew up in a christian home with religion. My mom was Anglican who converted to Roman Catholic when she married my dad. Together they decided that their children would be brought up as Roman Catholic. My brother, sister and I were baptized, made our first holy communion and were confirmed in the church. My parents ensured that we attended church and catechism classes faithfully. As young adults we continued in the faith. But I always felt something was missing. My life was incomplete. It lacked peace, purpose, joy, hope, security and a sense of fulfillment. Religion had taught me to fear God...do's and don't of everyday living, creating a false believe that God's love is conditional. In June 2002 a friend invited my sister and myself to a concert at Durban Christian Centre where I saw others worshiping and during the altar call was done both my sister and myself heard the call and responded and became born again Christians. I now know that I have eternal life through Christ Jesus who payed the penalty for my sins by dying on the cross and rising from the dead to purchase a place for me in heaven. I now know that God is always with me. I have the relationship that I had been longing for. I have peace, purpose, joy, hope, security, fullfilment and so much more. I have faith to face my fears. I am trusting in Gods plan for my life. Gods love is unconditional. He guides every aspect of my life, my marriage, finances, and work.
The inner peace that walking with God has allowed me to continue in life despite the storms that have come up. I have had a great deal of loss in my life. My dad was tragically killed in an armed robbery and attempted hijacking, my mom passed away two years after dad from congestive cardiac failure and my brother while under the influence of alcohol shot himself in the head while playing Russian Rollette. Through all of this I was never alone. My relationship with the Lord grew stronger.
I know without a doubt that God is always with me and that I will spend eternity with him in heaven.
