My Walk
God pursued me to the end of the earth.
God spoke to me, while sitting on the beach in sunny Southern California. Many insurmountable problems had occurred in my life that had led to that day on the beach. The year was 2004, I once again found myself addicted to drugs and alcohol after ten years of sobriety and in a pit of despair. Tanya, my wife, and I had carved out a life in New Mexico, the American dream. We owned a home, had a beautiful daughter, two beautiful foster daughters, we owned a boat, and we spent a lot of time at the lake, we were the quintessential happy family. We thought we had it all. Sadly we were not living in Gods will. We attended church every Sunday, but did not get involved. When the storms of life hit I was unprepared and quickly relapsed. I stopped going to church and started on my downward spiral. After I hit the bottom of my downfall, two years later, God began to call me back. I knew I needed a change. I sent my resume out all over the world. I landed an interview in San Diego, While interviewing my family and I vacationed. We visited the beach, While sitting there looking out over the ocean, I knew I needed to move my family out to San Diego. God was speaking to me. From New Mexico we rented a home, sight unseen, four blocks from the Salvation Army. My family quickly involved themselves with the church programs. Two more years of my alcoholism passed, I was supposed to show up for Troops one night, it was supposed to be my first visit to the Corps, but instead I got drunk and was arrested for a DUI. I cried out to my Lord and my wife to save me. God was looking for me to come home. Tanya my wife, already involved with Salvation Army knew who to talk to; Captain David Leonard took me to the local rehab. Where God restored me and I have served God every day since.
After beginning my walk with the Lord a process of sanctification began to unfold. I was relieve of addiction, anger, resentments, lust, envy, and greed. I was filled with love, hope, peace, and holiness. God has placed a calling on my life to serve Him all the days of my life.
I have found peace and joy everyday. Taking up my cross and following Him. Sometimes it is super hard, but I rely on Him to enable and provide. Without the Power of the resurrection I was lost and hopeless. With Jesus all is possible, but only when I surrender unto Him.
