MY TESTIMONY: Passing from darkness into the eternal light of Jesus Christ
Frankly, I wasn’t looking to change myself when I lived in and for the world. I thought I was a “good person.” But once I realized that God viewed me in a very different light, I accepted His free gift of redemption through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross. Now I have peace and joy in my heart because I have Jesus in my life.
Before truly receiving eternal life, I went to church occasionally and considered myself to be a Christian, but I didn’t have the slightest clue about what was in the Bible and I certainly didn’t know who Jesus is.
To me, God was a cosmic genie in the sky who I called upon when I needed something.
I thank God He gave me the opportunity to truly know Him, through His son, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who I gave my life to in 1997.
I truly know that I am saved, that I am born again, that I belong to Jesus Christ; that my sins are forgiven.
While in the ocean at my favorite beach a few years ago, I was pulled out so far by a riptide that I couldn't see the shore while I yelled out for help. I could hear people calling for the lifeguard, but I couldn't see them. It took several minutes for the lifeguards to reach me. And during that time, I truly experienced the peace God can give that "surpasses all understanding," as stated in Philippians 4:7.
God picked me up, He cleaned me up, He told me He loved me, He changed my heart, He changed the way I thought, He gave me a new talk, He gave me a new walk, He delivered me from a lifestyle of sin, He gave me the real reason for living, He gave me purpose, He gave me peace, He gave me joy. Most of all, He gave me His Son, who gave me His salvation!
