My Testimony
Blessed by God's grace to be born into a Christian family and fortunate to understand and accept his gift at an early age. Corrected and disciplined through life but never forgetting his Grace and my eternal salvation.
I'm glad I have eternal life because I know God forgives my shortcomings and mistakes.
I recall as a small child sitting with my mother in our basement listening to her read bible stories. From the story of Adam and Eve alone, I was able to understand right from wrong and that sin deserved punishment. One day as my mother explained heaven and hell, I realized hell was not a place I wanted to go for the punishment I deserved so I asked, "how can I go to heaven?" She explained with great simplicity all I needed to do was believe in 3 things - 1) Jesus was the Son of God, 2) that he died for my sins and 3) came back to life. If I believed those 3 things and agreed to follow Him, I could go to heaven.
I know without any doubt that I was saved as a small child but it was not until I was older that I began to appreciate the need to turn away from sin and live for Christ. Numerous times in my life I've felt Him calling me back to his direction and instruction because I had drifted away. The Lord hadn't distanced himself from me, I distanced myself from him with my thoughts and actions. However, each time I felt reassured of my salvation, but was reminded of the need to no longer be a lukewarm Christian.
