My Testimony
Sometimes we see what others have, we realize that it is what is missing in our life.
Before I accepted Christ I felt like something was missing in my life. I went to Church regularly. Sunday morning I went with my parents and Sunday nights and Wednesdays, my papaw would take me.
As I watched my Papaw, I knew he was different. He was older so I didn't know if he'd ever had a job. I just knew he was always in the garden working on his knees. He was crippled and walked with a cane. He would go into the garden in the morning and go back to the house when it was supper time.
I noticed how my grandfather read and studied and lived his life. Even though he had a hard live he lived with such a since of peace. I believe it was because he read his Bible daily and prayed. I realized that I wanted what he had. So, one Sunday I decided to give my heart and life to Jesus.
The mercy that God has extended to me with his gift of eternal life leaves me speechless. When I feel lost and in need, I know he is there. So, I reach out to him and find the missing pieces.
I loved to go to my Grandfather's house. When I went across the street to his house, he was glad to see me. I was fascinated that every time I went to his house he was reading his Bible. The pages of his Bible were worn and the cover showed the signs of age. I was also fascinated with his magnifying glass. For he could't see very well, and he used it to read God's word. He could't hear very well either. But when I sat on his lap and we sang together I know the Angels could hear us. We sang loud and proud of the words and we sang. One of his favorites was " We'll work till Jesus comes we'll work, we'll work till Jesus comes and we'll be gathered home" My papaw worked very hard. As a child, when we sang that song, I pictured him on his knees in the garden. But now, I realized the work to be done is for the Kingdom. I strive to live as he did, to love God and others, and serve God. But, God is still "working on me."
God promises eternal life for those who believe in his name and follow him. Because I believe, I have the confidence of knowing I will sing those songs again in heaven.
