My testimony
The prime example of doing the right things for the wrong reasons.
Before receiving eternal life, I was confident I was going to make it there, but for the wrong reasons.
I remember always doing the “right thing.” I grew up in a Christian home, raised knowing what’s right and wrong. I got “saved” and thought that was all I needed—just do the right thing and I’ll see Jesus one day. I never understood the why.
Then I was convicted of who the true leader of my life was, who the master was. It was me. I always knew it, but I never wanted to admit it because that would be “wrong.” I came to understand that to truly have a new heart, you need a new head too, truly knowing the why behind the “good” things I was doing.
I now can see that I was going nowhere without Christ. He is the way. The way I looked on the outside before and after may have some similarities, but inside there’s been a complete and utter transformation. The Lord has saved me from myself.
I now live for Christ and follow Him, not expecting Him to follow after me. It’s a daily struggle to die to myself, but the willingness is there more than it’s ever been. I want to go and tell now, not for my glory but for His and His alone.
If the Lord decides my time is now, I know I will be there with Him. There’s a confidence I’ve found in the convictions. The Lord is with me, and I have no fear with Him. Apart from Him, I am nothing and have nothing. All the good that’s in me is His, and I have confidence in that.
