My Testimony
I once lived far from God, lost in addiction, lust, and selfishness. In my early 20s I drifted from church, thinking I was fine, but by 28 my life was nearly destroyed, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. God spared my life, even when I didn’t realize it. When I didn't deserve it. Instead of turning his back, he came running, and called me by name. Then I met my wife, and through her, God drew me back to Him. I had a choice, continue in darkness or surrender to God’s calling. By His strength, I walked away from my old life and chose Him. Since then, my life has changed. I now serve on my church’s worship team as a music director, pouring my life into God instead of sin. My wife has stood beside me, and God has become my firm foundation. My journey isn’t over, I am still learning to listen to His voice daily and trust His process. I don’t lead my life anymore, He does. I believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I believe Jesus, the Lamb of God, died on the cross for my sins, rose again on the third day, and is coming back as He promised. I know I will spend eternity with Him in Heaven, and I boldly confess that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Amen.
Knowing God, has given me the strength to walk away from things in my life that I would have never been able to on my own.
In my early 20's I had strayed away from the church, and was living on my own for the first time. I slipped into the sticky lifestyle of addiction, and lust, and greed. It was no issue in my eyes, I was blind, so I continued it. By the age of 28 or so, it had taken just about everything I had, except for my life. It came close to taking that on more occasions than I probably even know. Then that year I met my wife. I fell in love, and as this was happening, the opportunities kept presenting themselves to be in church on Sundays again. I had a decision to make, to walk away and drop everything, or to lose the love of my life and turn my back on God again. The positive concept at that point was that I trusted in him. I listened. To this day I practice making that decision every morning when I wake up, and I never look back. I have music directed on our worship team for something like 40 out of the last 44 weeks, really diving into the serving aspect that was completely absent before. My wife has been my rock through it all, and God has been my firm foundation. There is a lot more to my testimony, and I intend to write it thoroughly one day, but that would take an extended period of time to do. I feel like it isn't over yet, and there is more in store for me here. The biggest difference in my life in the last 5 years or so, is that every day I am getting better and better at listening to the Lord and knowing what his direction sounds or looks like. Not only listening, but trusting in his process. Not steering the bike, but letting him steer it, and I just keep pedaling.
I am certain that I will be spending eternity in the Heaven of Heavens with the one who was, and is, and is to come. With Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God and I will be joined by everyone in my family. I believe in God our Father, I believe in Christ the Son, I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus Christ was God’s spirit sent down as God's only Son, for the purpose of choosing us. I believe Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross, and paid for my sins with his blood. He rose again 3 days later as he said he would, and he will be back. I believe that the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ and stating out loud in full surrender that I believe with every corner of my heart that Jesus Christ is our savior, and he will deliver us home one day. AMEN
