My Testimony
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2
Before I received eternal life I felt an emptiness in me that I tried to fill with worldly things.
I was in the 7th grade when I broke down crying to my mother explaining how I felt like I had to be a different person to fit in. I felt like I had to wear the right clothes and get perfect grades in order to be accepted.
I had grown up in the church and always to service on Sundays, but it wasn’t until I went on a missions trip with my youth group that I really felt a connection to God. The entire week was filled with service projects and worship and it was there that I learned I have a heart for serving others. I can clearly remember one night after a long day of work when we were in the auditorium and I felt the Holy Spirit fill me with this overwhelming sense of peace and acceptance. It was that night that I made a vow to rededicate my life to Christ.
In the months after that church camp I really started exploring my faith and growing in my studies of the bible. It had its ups and downs but eventually I noticed a change.
The summer after, tragedy hit my family. My Uncel Dean lives in Australia and had two kids with my Aunt Lisa. My Aunt Lisa had been struggling in a battle against breast cancer. Until one night, she passed. This was a hard blow to my family because it wasn’t something we thought would happen. My Aunt was such a special person. She never said a hurtful word and was so determined that I think some of us may have thought she was invincible. That November, my uncle and my cousins came to visit us in the States. The Lord was really working through that time and eventually, my brother and I asked my uncle if he would baptize us.
Now that I have the gift of eternal life, the emptiness in my heart has been filled. The Lord has made me new and though life may come with its challenges, I know I have eternal life with my Savior in heaven.
