My Testimony
Life is not defined by the world, but by the works of Christ within your heart.
Before I was saved I had very low self esteem, and I was driven to path I thought would bring me value.
I grew up in a religious family, and for a very long time I viewed my behaviors and actions as things that brought me value in one parent's eyes. I memorized catechism and bible verses and got baptized as a child thinking "if I do these things this person will finally see value in me." The knowledge that I thought would make me more valuable did not bring on a genuine desire to follow God or an actual understanding of God's love and sacrifice for me.
I cannot pinpoint a specific event or reason, but when I was in high school I began to notice a change in myself. I wanted to know the Lord and follow him, and I prayed and asked Him to save me and lead me.
Now that I have been saved I no longer place my value in this world or in whether or not someone else values me.
I continue to receive disapproval and "not good enough" statements, but now I can hold to the Lord and I see that my value is in him and not this world.
The Lord's love and mercy is undeniable, and he has gifted me with eternal life.
