My Testimony

I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my person Lord and Savior at the age of fourteen. I have never regretted this decision to follow Christ as a teenager in the early 1960s as I entered my first year of high school. It was exciting with a capital "E!" underscored and highlighted for the rest of my life, earthly and eternal. I found Jesus to be my very best Friend, a friend that sticks closer than a brother, a friend that would lay down His life for me. The lights came on and I suddenly had a purpose for living. I excelled in school and escaped the luring of and entrapment of sin many of the young people faced at that time. I did not smoke, drink, experiment with drugs, fool around with what others my age were doing, play hooky or try to get out of doing hard work. I was on fire for God and He rewarded me greatly by enabling me to get good grades, being the first in my family to go to college and having a deep, close walk with Jesus, my Lord. I excelled in school. He gave me contentment and peace. He gave me comfort and joy. My life was an adventure with God. I came from a dysfunctional home where my mother was a devout Christian and my father was a devout atheist. They had head-on collisions daily. One day my father burned all the Bible in the house and forbade my mother to church. So when I accepted Christ as my my personal savior at age 14, I was afraid to announce this "Good News" upon entering my home. I had a visitation from the Lord as I sat in the pastor's car. I saw myself being carried in the arms of Jesus as a mother would comfort her new born baby. I also heard the words audibly in my ears, "I Am With You!" It was like Psalm 91:1-6 had taken effect while I was in the pastor's car. Jesus shall hide me under His shadow as I am resting in His secret place. He will cover me with His feathers. I felt light as a feather and a new born baby. I was no longer afraid. Throughout my entire life this born again experience has been real to me and has comforted me. I await the day when I shall see Jesus face to face.

It did not bother me that I was not popular. I was able to keep my mind on Jesus all day long and trust Him for my future. I had the Living God who made heaven and earth dwelling on the inside of me, explaining the mysteries of science, math and all the other subjects to me, giving me clarity of thought and bringing back to my remembrance everything that I had studies, resulting in getting an academic diploma and choosing the path of becoming a teacher.

I believe that whatever befalls me God is with me. His promises are true, "Yea and Amen!" He will never leave me. He will perfect that which pertains to me. I believe that God is greater than anything I could face in this life. He is the author and finisher of my faith. He is the perfecter of my faith. God is writing my story and He will complete His good work.
