My Testimony
While I may still struggle to "let Jesus take the wheel," I work towards becoming more like him and sharing that with the next generation.
Before I found my faith, I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders.
After college, I bounced around the country from North Carolina, to a tour out of California, to a ship out of Texas. As a freelance theatre professional, I was always somewhere new, never anywhere long, tying to piece to a career out of a series of jobs.
I didn't know who God was or what my relationship was to him. When I added up the events of my life to that point, I figured if there even was a God, He didn't care all that much for me. I had landed in Ocala, FL and made friends with two Christian ladies at my new job, and while I was skeptical, they were good people. It was through that friendship I read a book called "Captivating" by John and Staci Eldridge. It challenged what I thought about God and inspired me to read the Bible for myself. Learning about who God really was and seeing the Christian life in these friends, I knew I had it all wrong.
In prayer, I learned that not everything was up to me. That I could ask for wisdom and guidance. It took off the weight of every little thing.
I had been "doing theater" since High School. After two degrees and eight years in the field, I would never have thought I would do anything else until I felt God calling me into ministry. I had taught as part of several of my jobs and now shared faith with kids, touring had prepared me for working in a portable church, even my experience on the ship helped me to develop safety protocols. God used everything.
To see even the fingerprints of God's plan for my life, to know what Jesus did to restore me from sin, I have confidence in my eternal salvation and Heaven after this life.
