My Testimony
This is how I came to know God...
Believing was never an issue for me, but for so long I didn't really know God.
When February of 2017 came, I realized what it meant to not only believe in God, but to know him. On a rainy night, I was driving back to school from a weekend trip at home when my car hydroplaned and crashed into trees going 55 mph. I remember spinning and hearing several loud noises that, at the time, sounded almost like fire works. I remember wishing that my car would just stop spinning, and I remember thinking that if I hit the trees, I was surly going to die. You hear about it all the time on the news; when people lose control of their car, and the car runs off the road and into the trees, more often than not they are not able to walk away from that accident. Now, I was not able to walk away, but I was carried away from the scene in the back of an ambulance…alive. My first initial thought after waking up in the ambulance was, “I cannot believe that I am alive” and “There is something hard around my neck and it is really bothering me”. That night, my family, friends and I left the hospital. I was still in the very annoying neck brace, suffering a possibly the worst concussion, but I was alive. Little did I know, this pain was nothing compared to the pain that was soon to come. When patients are carried into the hospital after an accident, the doctors typically like to do a CT scan, especially when that person is not able to respond for him or herself. Well, this is what happened to me, and luckily the doctors did not see any signs of internal bleeding (which is what they were looking for) but they did find something else, a tumor. The next few weeks consisted of resting, and a million doctor appointments. It was very difficult to process everything that was going on- it all happened so fast. The doctors would constantly tell me how lucky I was. The reason I was so lucky, is because we found the tumor. My tumor was not just any normal tumor, it was a tumor that had capabilities to twist and destroy whatever was in its path…but we found it just in time. So, perhaps, if I had never gotten into the car accident, we may not have found the tumor until it was too late. See? God’s work, God’s hands, God’s miracles, all on me; and I felt every bit of it.
I went into surgery, a scheduled exploratory laparotomy, on March 15th, 2017 and the surgery was successful, the tumor was removed, and my recovery process began.
It is now June 2017, and physically, I almost feel as if none of it ever happened. I feel as if God took a good, hard look at me, and said, “Okay, I have to get her attention. Unfortunately, its gotta be pretty bad. I don’t want to kill her- but I have to get her in a CT scan so that the doctors can find this tumor.”
And so I came to not only believe in God, but know God. It never fails to bring me to tears whenever I think about how powerful, and how amazing, our God is. Now, I know God; I live for him, I trust in him, and I love him. I see his love in my everyday life, and I will always be thankful to serve and live for him.
So this is my testimony, this is how I came to know God.
