My Story - Written by God
Even Good Little Girls Need God
Before I trusted in Jesus I had problems with guilt. I was scared of death. I didn't know what to do. I thought I was a good little girl but I knew I wasn't good enough for God.
As a child I thought I had to do lots of good things to get to heaven and i realised i was really bad at doing good things. I was afraid of not getting to heaven but then I didn't want to give everything to God, to put him in charge of my life. I was pretty stubborn even as a kid.
Over many years, family members and other believers kept me in the word of God and taught me God's truth. Through God's power my heart and mind and life were changed. I was brought to love the Lord Jesus Christ. I realised that my works were not good enough, but that the work already done by Christ on the cross was all that was needed for my salvation. God turned my life around.
Before my conversion I feared death, and in some ways I still do, but I have a peace and joy about it too because the Bible says 'For me to live is Christ but to die is gain.' I know that when I die the Christ that I know as my Lord and Saviour will be the one I meet face to face, without sin! Death will mean so much freedom, not fear.
As a child I was afraid of death. I didn't realise or understand God's mercy. I thought that if I prayed enough God would then become merciful to me but God is merciful - that's his character. He doesn't become merciful because of anything I did or do. God helped me to know that for myself and now death is different. Recently there have been deaths in my family and of a friend. Where there have been tears and heartache there has also been joy. I know that believers go on their death to be with the one who loves them most - Christ. And I know that God is a God of mercy and justice and that death for the believer and unbeliever is entirely in his hands.
I am confident in God. My only comfort in life and in death is that I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Saviour, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life.
