My Story
My past was shaky, but the present and the future are anchored in truth.
I grew up in a place where love was not always felt nor heard. I was always cautious even when around people who were relatives and close friends. This was the decades of the fifties, sixties, and seventies. My school days were my favorite time but I remember incidents where love was not evident in the actions of the the school teachers and leaders.
I remember an incident in school involving racial differences, and I was snt home for the day. I was totally innocent of any misbehavior, but the school administrator sent me home for my own protection.
The church that I grew up in was a loving place, but the crowd always impressed rules, commandments, and obedience on me.. As a young adult, during my college experiences at the BSU, I read and understood the true meaning of "love." Romans 5:8 says, " Hear is how God has shown His love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. I want to be like Him as Paul describes in Philippians 3:10, " I want to know Him better. I want to know the power of His resurrection, the fellowship of His suffering, and I want to be like Him by sharing in His death."
My motivation is found in I John 5:13, "I am writing this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God. I am doing this su that you will know that you have eternal life.
After the death of my father, many years ago, I started trying to live as if my life really means something. My goal since then has been to let people hear and see a sermon through my daily life. That is accomplished as I live like Him.
Romans 5:8 and Philippians 3:10 are my assurances.
Your testimony matters too
