My Story
Following God is the best decision
Because I know God in a personal way, I have an clear purpose in life and identity that is not based on my actions.
I studied abroad in college and went to a continent where no one knew me or my background. More importantly, no one from home knew what I was doing abroad besides what I told them. I went to a lot of parties, made friends and dated people that were poor influences on my life, and was more concerned with having fun and avoiding loneliness than what God might want me to do. By the end of the semester, I felt very distant from my faith and had a lot of regrets about my actions. When I returned home I went to church regularly and started reading my Bible again. I was reminded that my identity was based on how God saw me, as his child, and not on my bad decisions. God showed me that doing things that seemed fun at the time, but where against God's commands would ultimately lead to disappointment and regret. I needed to obey him to fulfill my purpose in life. God showed me that he valued me when I felt very messed up.
God has displayed his incredible love for me in that he has forgiven me of my wrongdoing and selfishness. I know that I get to spend eternity with him, not because of what I've done, but what his son did when he died on the cross for me and rose from the dead.
