My Story
True peace comes from God- a peace that transcends everything.
Before I received eternal life, I felt as if I was always on the edge of a mental breakdown. Life was so stressful to me, and my anxiety to cope with life grew harder each day. I was overwhelmed by the things of this world.
To help me deal with my anxiety and stress, I tried different things like medication, exercising, and listening to music. These things didn’t work. The more I tried to force them into my life, the more I felt like a failure. I felt as if I was genuinely trapped inside a prison. Nothing gave me relief, and as a result, my spirit was restless.
Then, one morning, by the grace of God, I broke down in front of my sister and poured out all my troubles, problems, and worries onto her. She did not give me a speech nor condemn me. I still remember her being so Godly and speaking with words of kindness and understanding. She said, “Pray, Tina, pray. Eventually, all your troubles will be cast aside because God hears his children, and you, my sister, are a child of God, so don’t forget that.” She went on that day, reminding me how good and faithful He is.
I knelt on the floor that night and prayed to our Heavenly Father to remove all anxiety and stress from my life. I surrendered myself to His will and His way. I sat in God's presence in a dark room, trusting and receiving Him, praying and weeping because that was all I had left. I felt his spirit surround me, telling me I would be OK.
Somewhere in my busy life, I forgot that. So now I constantly hold onto what Philippians 4:6-7, NIV says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Remember, God's peace isn't something you search for or take medication for. Just continue trusting Him because He is always good and with you.
Your testimony matters too
