My search for true happiness.

Before I became a Christian, I was an extremely controlling person. I would set goals and work hard to achieve them.

I always colored in the lines and could not understand people that did not play by the rules. At midlife I had accomplished my life long goals. I had the “Good Life”, but was not happy.

One day while I was pondering the absence of happiness in my life, God spoke to me. He asked me to give Him everything. I considered this request and concluded that I had nothing to lose. I did surrender my life to Him even though I knew that He was asking for all the things that I loved. Before Christ I had no love for anyone that I did not know. I considered homeless people, drug users and people on the wrong side of the law as losers. I had no desire to talk or be in the presence of losers. After my surrender to Christ, He gave me a great love for those I never loved before. I now know peace and joy that is not dependent on my current circumstances.

Before I came to Christ, I would read the Bible without understanding. Now I read it with understanding. I’m also able to apply what I learn in the Bible to my life. Best of all, I now have love for all people.

I completely embrace God and have found that a close walk with God is the true secret to success.

I live each day depending on God for guidance and help. I now look forward to heaven and have no fear of death.
