My redemption story
I was blind, but now I see.
Before I was saved, I could only think of myself and my pleasures. I lived for the weekends and concentrated on having a good time.
I knew deep down though that the life I was living wasn't fulfilling and it made me depressed and sad. I was addicted to good times, guys and drinking. But of course, I would never be satisfied with those things and would feel guilt of the way I was living. I suppressed that feeling though and kept trying to live my life and fill a void with worldly pleasures.
I met a friend in College who befriended me and started sharing her faith with me. I told her a few times I didn't want to hear about God and Jesus, but she kept being persistent and invited me to a Bible study that I eventually decided to go to, I mean "what harm would that do?". In that Bible study my life changed forever. I didn't make a statement of faith, but in my heart I believed and God changed me in a blink of an eye that evening and the next day I had a desire to read the Bible.
The desire to party and have a good time was replaced by the desire to know God and His Son Jesus. I started reading the Bible and go to church. My old life little by little became less inviting where I eventually abandoned that life style.
I remember after I got saved, how all the colors were vibrant and I would wake up every day with joy in my heart realizing that God is the Creator of all life, He is the beginning and the end. I had been blind, but now I could see! His Mercy had saved me!
I got saved by grace alone. I hadn't done anything to deserve it. Jesus opened my eyes to understand that I am a sinner and that He alone gives me eternal life. I am confident that when I die, I will go to heaven, because of what He did on the cross.
