My Purposse
My purpose is not found in what makes me happy on this earth. Everything in this world will fade away and die, leaving us broken and confused. I am a citizen of heaven and place my identity in the eternity that I will spend with God after my death. This identity defines everything I do and gives me the freedom to enjoy life as I am obedient to God's instructions.
I am grateful for my relationship with God because of the love He covers me in whenever I feel unlovable, the forgiveness He gives when I mess up, and the purpose my life has as I get to go on adventures with Him!
Because my purpose is to be with God, I don't have to stress about creating a perfect plan for my life. My entire childhood, I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I was older. I knew what made me happy, and I had planned how to implement that into a career, mapping out exactly what I needed to do to get there. This only led to fear, anxiety, stress, a mindset controlled by perfectionism, and turmoil. However, God began to open my eyes to a new purpose of giving up what I loved and sharing Him with those who don't know Him. I planned to build my career training horses, something I enjoyed and was fairly good at, yet God told me to leave the work I loved and follow Him to other nations. I thought obedience would mean denial of fun and adventure, but I found so much joy and contentment instead! He took me on adventures around the world and showed me how my life could be used for a greater purpose. Even though my life is for His glory, He continues to love me in countless tiny ways, including allowing me to work with horses again! I may never make a profession out of working with horses, but God has used it to bless me in more ways than I can count and I will enjoy them as long as He ordains.
Though nothing I do can gain my entrance into heaven, everything I do is because I am already a citizen of God's Kingdom. This world is not my home, so I do not live according to its rules. I live based off the rules of my heavenly Father, knowing that I am forgiven and will receive mercy and grace when I mess up. I live with purpose that comes from my confidence that when God looks at me, He doesn't see my mistakes, but the perfection of Jesus.
