My personal testimony, striving to ABIDE in HIM!
I love Jesus because He first loved me. I drifted many times in my early adult life, but Jesus never let go of me. He is The Fisher of Men. I was always on His hook, but when I strayed and took too much line, he would always tighten the drag and reel me back in closer to Him! I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. He is the vine and we are the branches. I am challenged every day to fully ABIDE in Him, to be “all in” for the Lord . But, we all fall short of the Glory of God. I try hard to reflect Christ so that all I think, say and do glorifies Him. A challenging goal for me and all of His people to strive for, but seldom attained. But, I know without any doubt, that Jesus stands on both sides of the grave. When my time comes to leave this earth, He will usher me out of this life into eternal life with Him in Heaven! Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so! Thank You Jesus!
I believe in “eternity”, that our time on earth is minuscule compared to everlasting eternity. We will live out eternity in one of two places, Heaven with God, or Hell without God. Heaven with God is total light, total never-ceasing celebration with our Creator, our Savior and our Lord. Hell is total darkness, doomed for wailing and gnashing of teeth for forever—eternity.
After we retired, we came to fully understand that we were either at the beach or wishing we were at the beach. We had recently changed churches in Asheboro because we were not being “fed” with the Word and the Spirit. Through two dreams I had two nights apart, a series of events kicked off that led to us moving to the beach. We did not understand the possibilities (God’s Devine intervention) that would come from our move to the beach and becoming fully engaged in “all things ODPC”! We have finally found a church home where we are growing spiritually, serving and volunteering selflessly and gleefully, drawing closer and closer to HIM!! We are finally feeling fulfilled spiritually, growing and thriving with many God-loving friends!
From the Gospel of John, in the beginning was the Word (Jesus), He was with God, and He was God. The Father sent Jesus to earth to pay the debt for our sin which we cannot pay. The penalty of sin is death, paid for us by Jesus through His torture and death on the cross, so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him. Jesus told us that in His Father’s house there are many rooms. He goes ahead of us to prepare a place for us, so that where He is, we may be also. He loves us that much that he died for us, for our redemption so that we can spend eternity with Him. Eternal life—we cannot earn it nor do we deserve it! It is only through the gift of God, full of His grace and mercy that we can attain it—by believing in Jesus and the Father who sent Him, and by faith, accepting His gift of salvation!
