My Personal Testimony
Deciding to ask Jesus into my heart and living for Him has been the best decision of my life. He is not finished with me either.
Before I asked Jesus to come into my heart I had lived my life following and believing what others said about Him.
My parents wanted my brothers and I to know about God and honor God. We walked to the Lutheran church in Kirkwood where I spent my early years. Sometimes our mother went with us and sometimes she stayed at home with dad and sent us. Other times a friendly man from church named Mr. Nebel would come pick us up and take us to church. At the Lutheran church we listened to Bible stories and memorized Bible verses. Every Christmas my brother John and I would memorize parts for the Christmas program. Mom would practice with us every night before we went to bad. There was a lot of ritual and tradition in the church. As I grew older I began confirmation class and studied my catechism. Not my Bible, my catechism. I was assigned verses to learn and memorized the Apostle's Creed. When I was confirmed into the church I wore a new outfit, a white robe and another tradition, I wore the necklace that my grandmother wore when she married my grandfather. It had a ruby stone in it and I felt very special.
I asked Jesus to come into my heart in September of 1986. I was 30 years old. Being confirmed in the Lutheran church did not save me. I knew about God and I knew that Jesus died on the Cross but I did not grow much beyond that. I knew God loved me and I tried to live a good life. Jim and I met, dated and married. We went to church together at the Methodist church where he grew up. Every Sunday was a family affair sitting with his parents and brother and sister and their families. We became involved in the choir and led the children's choir.
After receiving Jesus
There was now a permanent peace in my heart.
I know that my Redeemer lives
