My Personal Testimony
How I overcame the fear of rejection through the love of Christ.
Before I received eternal life, I was insecure and desperate for the approval of others.
I remember wanting others' approval so intently that I started drinking martinis and beer in the local bars at age 14 so that I could hang out with the cool kids. I started stealing, shoplifting, staying out late at night and even stole a motorcycle to get others to think I was cool. It worked for a while, but the bar for performance kept raising higher and higher.
Then I was invited to join a Christian youth group where I was accepted for who I was without any need to do anything to gain approval. In that youth group I heard about the love of Jesus Christ for me and his death on a cross for my sins. Over the course of several months in 10th grade, I kept attending the youth group and eventually gave my life to Jesus.
Now that I have eternal life, I no longer fear rejection by others and I no longer strive to drink and hang out with any particular group.
Since giving my life to Christ, I have found acceptance in Christ and fellowship with other believers, wherever my travels have taken me - from California to France and Virginia; I have found the bond of Christian love transcends borders, nationalities and genders.
Better yet, I have a Father in heaven who will never leave me nor forsake me.
