My Personal Testimony

Before I received eternal life I had a fear of death. I remember when my grandmother, my dad's mother died I was afraid to go to the funeral. So I pretended to be sick. I just did not want to be around someone who had died. I was afraid.

When I was about 15 I almost drown while cleaning a swimming pool. After I had gone under the water several times, it was obvious that I was going to drown. I had a friend who pulled me out and saved my life physically. I look back at that and know if I had drown I would not have gone to heaven.

When I was a senior in high school I received the gift of eternal life.

Since I have received the free gift of eternal life, I am no longer afraid of dying.

A few years ago my wife and our two small children were traveling from West Texas to Memphis for Christmas. We spent a cold wintery night in Hope, Arkansas. We were awaken to an ice storm that hit the area. As we traveled very slowly from Hope, Arkansas toward Little Rock we saw people who had slid into the ditch on either side of us. We saw emergency vehicles and wreckers everywhere. Just before we got to Little Rock an 18 wheeler tried to switch lanes sliding from one side to the next. It seemed obvious that he was going to flip his truck over on top of us and we would all surely die. I do not know other than God's grace why that did not happen. However, I had such a peace that if I would have died I would have gone to heaven.

Now, because I have received the gift of eternal life, I no longer fear death, but know for certain if I were to die that I would go to heaven.
