My personal testimony
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. Perhaps you are where I was, having no desire to know the true and living God. Maybe Jesus doesn't seem real to you. Please consider opening your life to Him. Jesus is waiting with open arms, desiring that all come to Him.
Before I received the gift of eternal life, I recall feeling my life had no significant purpose. God was not spoke of in my home and we never attended a church service as a family. I had a good life, but it merely consisted of following my own heart desires. I had no thought of God, or what happens after this life.
A friend from my high school, invited me to attend church with him and his family. He spoke often about his family going to church on Sundays. I didn't consider going with him, God just wasn't a priority in my life. I was doing the best I could and thought I was a good person. So why go to church? finally, after serval invites, I agreed to attend a service with him.
During the church service something inside me started to happen. I didn't really understand what was going on. Was the pasture was talking directly to me? I knew what he was saying was true and it made me uncomfortable. The reality of being a sinner in need of a Savior became clear. The pasture gave an invitation at the end of the service, and I felt compelled to go forward. Wow, I'm glad I did. It was there, kneeling at a little wooden alter, I prayed and opened up my life to Jesus.
Now that I have eternal life, and a growing relationship with Jesus, my life has a purpose and direction. I now see the need and desire to know and love my God. I now have a desire to serve the Lord and tell others about Him.
However, this was not the end of the story. God had even greater things planned. After I prayed to receive Jesus into my life, my family began to attend church with me. Over a short period of time, they all gave their lives to the Jesus. Our God is so faithful, and I am grateful for his saving the grace He so freely gave to me and my family. It has been several decades since that glorious day when Jesus saved me. I have never regretted giving my life to Him. Sadly, my father, mother and sister have passed from this life in death. But I have a peace in knowing they had placed their faith in Jesus and are spending eternity in the presence of their Savior. I have to thank and praise Jesus for using my friend to invite me to church.
I often think of that day when I knelt and prayed, as a teenager, opening my life to Jesus. I have to admit, I'm not perfect, but He's not done working on me. I miss my parents and my sister, but I have the assurance that I will see them again someday.
