My Personal Testimony
I no longer live in fear of what will happen because I have peace with God.
At a young age around four or five years old, I remember how I started to ask my parents a lot of questions. This was unusual for me because as a little kid I was constantly on the go and didn't like to talk much. On Mother's Day, I went to church with my family where I heard the pastor talk about God. That piqued my curiosity, and I had noticed how much my parents cared for each other. I also noticed that they lived with confidence. I did not feel that way about myself. I knew how I did not listen to my parents. I knew how I would sneak around on purpose to color on my bedroom walls. I would run away from my mom at the store. I mouthed off at my parents by saying it didn't hurt when they punished me. I would also break my sister's things when she wasn't looking. I felt scared about what would happen if I died and thought that there was no way God could forgive me for what I was doing. I enjoyed making my family's life harder, so why would He care about me. However, that night on Mother's Day I decided to tiptoe down to the family room where my parents were. I wanted to know more about God. They explained to me how God had already forgiven me and how much He loved me. They also told me that I could choose to live with God forever if I followed His way. I didn't feel as anxious anymore. I decided to accept God's offer of eternal life.
I woke up one night to the sound of thunder. I was terrified because it felt like my bedroom was shaking and I had never heard it that strong before. Then I remembered the decision I had made and how one of my friends at school told me how God protects us from danger. I talked with God that night in my own words. Then I was able to crawl back up into my bunk bed and fall asleep.
I still carry that same peace that God gave me on stormy nights as a little boy. I now know for certain that no matter what happens I will have eternal life with God in heaven some day.
